Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police mentioned they were notified by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Police then found many other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say early analysis suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for details.

An important representative stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
