The Denver Nuggets star won the NBA's MVP title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple National Basketball Association MVP Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee while the Denver Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.

The star player injured himself in the latter stages of the opening half following an unintentional collision with fellow Nugget Jones.

Jones stepped on the foot of Jokic, and he immediately collapsed to the floor clutching his leg.

The star, that leads the league season in rebounds and dimes, had 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before sustaining the problem.

Jokic will have an scan on the following day to determine the extent of the injury.

"Instantly, Jokic understood he was hurt," stated Denver head coach David Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Any player who suffers an injury, that's tough to see, especially somebody as talented as him. We'll find out more on Tuesday."

"We'll move on as a team. Obviously, at this moment, I am more worried about Jokic personally and the letdown of going through something of that nature."
