The President Welcomes Relatives of Shot National Guard Personnel to the White House

President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president addressed reporters. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Measures and Policy Changes

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event led the government to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor stated on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she planned to visit his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
