The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's sincerity struck a chord and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and supported its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about watching this endearing family navigate their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to evolve comedy past its long-running sarcastic tone. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to enjoy the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
