The Latest Relaxed Playlist Sparks Heated Debates Regarding Bots, Experience Points, and Wait Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but features a few key changes:
- Each team includes just 8 human participants, with the remaining made up of AI-controlled opponents.
- Actions done by real players grant full XP, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
- Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
- Elements like Player tags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off.
In short, this mode delivers on its title: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. On the surface, one could assume there's nothing wrong, since it provides more options for players seeking alternative ways to enjoy the game. But, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, a lot of BF6 players are mad.
Community Reactions: From Fury to Support
"People want real players. Don't repeat the mistakes of your competitors," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing idea," says a different user. Meanwhile, in community forums, a player notes, "I have no idea where we are headed with this game," while another lists all the issues they believe to be problematic in the game: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this bot mode."
On the other hand, amid the criticism, there are players explaining how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants keep it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are gamers who actually go outside and don't play this game 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," adds another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," and someone else praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."
Constructive Concerns and Player Feedback
All that said, players have valid points to complain about Casual Breakthrough. A few folks have pointed out that it will make wait times more extended for other modes due to the large amount of options currently available. Similarly, some areas already encounter mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a minimum number of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots.
Lastly, a major grievances is that Battlefield Portal was meant to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they tried to remove bot farms from the system. So this new playlist seems like the community compromising halfway, according to forum feedback. Another describes this addition as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?
Should Battlefield Studios has proven anything to date with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Tasks being too difficult got fixed very quickly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. It is likely that, should analytics indicates this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to change it again.
