Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
