Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a man who jumped a fence and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral video reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Safety
Numerous supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further message on Instagram.
A number of fans also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and earned ten Academy Award nods, earning a pair for best costume and artistic direction.
